Today I started using these Dr. Martin's Hydrus Watercolors for the first time on the cat/rat circus pieces. How nice. They are liquid which is interesting to use. The colors are so rich. Much better than the cheapo (but good) pan set I've been painting with all this time. The Hydrus was on sale so I got all three sets. :)
The person who commissioned the 11"x14" Masquerade Ball wants two Cirque paintings to flank it on either side. I don't usually post work in progress but I did this for myself to see the pair together. I may add something to the upper right hand corner of the right cat to make it balance the left a little better. Both will be 11"x8.5"
This was something I always thought would be fun to try. After watching the HBO series The Borgias, I got more motivated. It is modeled after Da Vinci's painting "Lady with an Ermine." Graphite 8"x10". (A couple of years magically disappeared in this portrait).
The theme for this month's Nibblefest Art Contest is "Letters, Signs & Symbols." I wasn't feeling too inventive with this category, so I thought I'd do something for my Wiccan friends. This drawing is posted on eBay here. Graphite 5"x7".
